Service Provider SMB Secure Messaging Service
Stop e-mail attacks in their tracks.
In response to the market need, McAfee has developed a McAfee hosted, in-the-cloud managed mail solution that Service Providers can offer to their small to medium-sized businesses (SMB) and enterprise customers as a powerful Value Added Service.
There are two product options that Service Providers may offer to prospective customers:
- The Small Business solutions for companies with less that 500 employees
- The Enterprise solution for companies with more than 500 employees
Both of these solutions are simple for the Service Provider to activate with the end customer, and they require no additional hardware or software, no complex training of customer (or Service Provider) staff, and no maintenance or system updates to worry about.
Generate New Revenue Streams
McAfee Secure Messaging Service (McAfee SMS) is the ideal Value Added Service to increase customer retention, since it does not require any additional software or hardware to be installed on customer premises and is quick and simple to activate. When offered as a Value Added Service to existing or new customers, McAfee SMS is an effective security service that:-
- Generates an increased annual return per user (ARPU)
- Helps Service Providers create market-differentiated services that reduce customer churn and increase subscription levels
- Helps establish longer-term customer relationships, with industry-leading service renewal rates
- Reduces customer support calls and help-desk expenditures
In-Depth Protection
Service Providers who base a managed mail security service offering on McAfee SMS will be able to provide an automated, layered approach that provides:-
1. Anti-Directory Harvest Attacks (Anti-DHA)
2: Anti-Denial of Service countermeasures (Anti-DoS)
3: Anti-Spam
4: Anti-Virus
5: Anti-Phishing
6: Attachment management
Suspicious mail is quarantined in a Web-based, password protected message center for review by administrators and/ or end users.
Simple, Effective Mail Protection
McAfee SMS makes it simple for Service Providers to implement a managed mail service for their customers. An administrator simply redirects a customer’s mail exchange (MX) record through the McAfee servers, where mail traffic will be scanned quickly and easily before entering or leaving the control of a customer’s network.
Utilizing a centralized Web management portal, a Service Provider’s administrator is able to view a customer’s quarantined e-mail, process reports, and configure comprehensive individual customer policies for spam, virus, and content filtering, for all of a customer’s email servers worldwide.
Trend Analysis and Reporting
Using the in-depth McAfee SMS reporting capability, an IT administrator working for or with the Service Provider can monitor a customer’s setup, view various aspects of the e-mail flow and traffic conditions, request and view detailed reports, implement global policies, or customize individual e-mail server configurations as per customer requirements.
Patented Managed Mail Security
An objection to managed mail services that is often encountered by Service Providers concerns how the e-mail is processed by the managed mail provider. Business customers are sometimes concerned about confidential e-mail being read by unauthorized personnel or stored to disk before processing. McAfee SMS addresses these concerns directly by employing a patented approach to message management where messages are processed in real time, in high-speed system memory and without the need for human intervention, instead of being written to disk for processing later. This pass-through technology not only provides for higher message processing efficiency, but it also reduces message latency to milliseconds and overcomes customers’ security concerns.

Description
McAfee® Secure Messaging Service protects a customer’s network from threats that come in from e-mail. The service filters incoming e-mail to catch suspicious material before it gets into a business’s network.
With the McAfee Web-based management console, a Service Provider can set policies, review quarantines, and generate reports to get a complete view of their business customer’s e-mail security.
System Requirements
A company wishing to outsource its mail filtering to a Service Provider needs to have its own mail domain, such as “Customername.com”, with a static IP address and a dedicated mail server, either in-house or hosted by the Service Provider or an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
No matter what e-mail platform a customer uses- Exchange, Outlook, Lotus Notes, or something else- Service Providers are now able to offer their customers the industry’s leading, most powerful managed mail service, backed by the industry’s leading security partner.
